Got a Boat!
Through a pleasant turn of events i am catching a ride to Livingston, Guatemala then up the Rio Dulce on a 34 foot sailboat, "40 Mile," with a gentleman named Grant. We met at a Yoli's bar on the beach in Placencia, Belize. I promise a long post with lots of Caribbean sailing photos in a few days when we hit land. Feels like travel now.

Enjoy the Rio Dulce - I hope the fish is as nice my 20 year old memory of them. - eastman
ReplyDeleteHappy Sailing. Look forward to seeing some pics
ReplyDeleteHere's a post card from home: Streams and rivers in Bingo area are flush after snow-melt and April showers. Buds and bulbs are popping everywhere, the landscape is going from brown to kelly green and a line of bikes with riders in clashing-colored jerseys is flowing down the single track off South Mountain.
The Rio Dulce flows a short meander thru a lush limestone canyon populated by folks fishing from cayucas - wooden boats made from a tree. The head of the river is the largest lake in Guatemala and the fish are tasty! . . . pretty nice area. But it is fun to look forward to NYS spring . . . in a year. I guess it is time for me to get riding. cheers, g
